If someone talks about a how, most people assume they are referring to a TV show as they're generally just referred to as shows. TV shows differ from other kinds of shows in several ways, but they are most different to live shows for one reason. Censorship. A live performance is harder to censor, as it is in front of an actual audience, once something has been done, or said, it can't be taken back, so it is easier to upset or offend people. TV shows, on the other hand, have very strict rules as to what can and cannot be broadcast on TV to stop people getting offended. Most radio shows are broadcast live, and one or two are known to have produced quite big problems for those involved. Very few TV shows are live, bar the news or the election night stuff because it's just harder to control what is done. TV is a great medium for shows, as it allows people to create things and broadcast them to potentially millions of people, but what with the law and everything, many of the best bits are removed from broadcast.
The internet, on the other hand, doesn't have any laws. You are free to upload and do basically whatever you want. There are boundaries, of course, for the mainstream stuff, but if you know what you want you can basically find anything out there. This means the internet is a great place to creat webseries. Most webseries are comedy, and work around pop culture and low budget productions. They are usually comdies because it's easier. You can do comedy in five minutes, but if you tried to do a drama in five minutes, it would fall flat. You don't have enough time to set the scene and get enough tension for a drama to work in a webseries so you stick wit trying rto make people laugh. You can also put up slightly more 'outrageous' webseries do you can get away with a bit more stuff than you could on TV.
