Tuesday 12th Jan

We had to sort out production managers. The production managers had to get equipment and do risk asessments before we can do anything. If we want a camera, we need to do a risk assessment. They request the cameras, tripods etc in advance. Locations must be agreed on paper, not just "can we go here?" "yeah". We chose Tara to be our production manager, because she is smart and meticulous with her work. I am sure she will do everything properly, and we wont lose any marks for cutting corners or not have equipment due to lack of paperwork and things.

I then looked at E20, the BBC's new online spin-off Eastenders thing. It is aimed at a youth online audience, but they also want it to introduce a new generation of people to the world of online TV.

There are several massive changes between Eastenders and E20. The main one i've seen, is it has a much rockier soundtrack, creating far more tension than what i remember from Eastenders, despite both being apparently quite tense shows. The shots are also all very quick cut, even something as dull as getting out of bed has several different fast cut moving shots in it.

The original theme song has been remixed to appeal to the younger audience, however other TV shows have done this and it just ruins the original theme. The 5th series of The A-Team remixed the opening them tune, and it was awful, i could barely bring myself to watch it. The show is set in the same setting as Eastenders, and features many of the same cast, but the stars are teenagers. They bring in 13 new writers each aged 17-22 form the London area, to get some diversity. The actors are all new to acting. They put it online so people can watch it whenever they like, because few people still have a designated TV time anymore, and you can download each of the songs in the episode, remix them and upload them again so they can be used in the next episode.
